Our school Liaison Officer came in on Thursday to talk to us about making sure
we are safe at home and at school. Charlie Check First is a tool
Officer Angel used to help us remember to ask an adult before going
anywhere with anyone. The students also learned the importance of using "wise eyes" to observe their surroundings and
saying "No" when there isn't an adult around to check with first. They
were fantastic listeners and received a certificate, sticker badge, and
Green Bay Packer cards.

Number Track
We learned about a new math tool that we can use to solve various problems. The students were introduced to number tracks. We had a discussion about what they noticed about the number tracks. After our discussion, we learned how to use these number tracks by solving some problems. The students were even able to write their equations right on their desks! They were so excited!

The past two days we had the Chromebook cart in our classroom!
We practiced some very important skills. We learned how to do the following:
- Plugging in a mouse
- Plugging in our headphones
- Signing into the Chromebook using their own student email addresses
- Opening up the internet and logging into Raz Kids
- And signing out of the Chromebook
The kids were very good listeners and many were able to easily sign in on the second day! I am so proud of them and their ability to pick up on the many skills that were taught!

Fire Safety and Prevention
The Lawrence Fire Department visited Hemlock Creek today. The first graders learned about fire safety and prevention. The students were attentive listeners and had some very good questions for these Firefighters.
The Firefighters assigned some homework to everyone.
- Change the batteries in your fire alarms at home on Daylight Savings Day this fall.
- Make sure your child knows the emergency plan for your home and decide on a meeting place outside of your home in case of a fire.
The kiddos were such good listeners that they received a pencil and an eraser! Please discuss your safety plan at home this weekend. Check out some pictures from our visitors below!
